No, and we would rather say so up front. A VPN operates at the operating-system level and covers every app on your device. ABC Tunnel is a Chrome extension that proxies browser traffic only. That is a real trade-off: you get lighter setup and per-site control, but nothing outside Chrome is routed.
It means per-site routing rules. You keep a list of sites that should take the encrypted exit; everything not on the list leaves your browser normally. It is the difference between an on/off switch and a routing table.
Any tunnel adds a network hop, so routed sites will be somewhat slower than direct ones. Split routing is the answer: only send what needs sending. Smart Connect also keeps you on the lowest-latency exit that is currently responding.
No. There is no signup, no email, and no login. Install the extension and it works.
Yes. Changing your exit IP does not log you out, clear your cookies, or hide your browser fingerprint. If you are signed in to a service, that service still knows who you are. Treat the exit IP as one signal among many.
It works in any Chrome profile where you have enabled the extension, including Incognito if you allow it in the extension settings. It does not cover Firefox, Safari, or native applications.
